Meet Adam Pirri and Chad Mackay— co-founders and two of the current coaches of CrossFit Active in Waverton, Sydney—whose combined leadership and expertise have built one of Australia’s leading CrossFit communities. Both bring a wealth of competitive and coaching experience, helping everyday athletes and seasoned competitors alike reach their fullest potential.
Adam Pirri
Adam is renowned for his commitment to athlete development and purposeful programming. With a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Precision Nutrition credentials, Adam’s holistic approach to coaching is also recognized through his work with athletes in conditioning and strength, as well as his support of martial arts training as a conditioning coach for competitive jiu-jitsu programs. He also played a pivotal role in team management and coaching when CrossFit Active members competed at the CrossFit Games from 2014 to 2017.
Adam’s personal interests include spending quality time with his family and living an active lifestyle. Besides CrossFit, Adam has a passion for middle distance running and jiu-jitsu and still competes in multiple events throughout the year.

Chad Mackay
Chad is widely regarded as one of Australia’s premier CrossFit athletes and coaches. He is recognized for three top 12 CrossFit Games finishes as an individual and has played a crucial coaching role for masters athlete Lynne Knapman at the CrossFit Masters Games since 2014 through to 2025.
Chad has a strong passion for sports and the outdoors, with personal interests including surfing, practicing yoga (especially Bikram Yoga), and spending time with friends and family in Sydney. Chad loves discovering new sports and challenges, maintaining a lifelong enthusiasm for baseball, tennis, and strength training.
